The tool is intended for use with steamed wool felt. Steam softens the fibers, allowing the brim to be shaped without excessive force while reducing the risk of cracking or damaging the felt. Depending on the hat style, the brim can be curled gradually over several passes until the desired profile is achieved.

How It Works

Steam the Hat – Apply steam to soften the felt before shaping.

Guide the Brim – Insert the brim edge into the selected groove and move the curler steadily around the hat using light, even pressure.

Repeat if Needed – Multiple passes create a more defined curl. A quality brim stiffener can be applied before or after shaping to help the brim retain its final form.
